In fields of medicinal chemistry,fluorinated molecules are widely used.In recent years,the synthesis of trifluoromethyl and heteroatoms such as CF3O or CF3S has attracted more and more interest.The CF3S moiety has a particularly high hydrophobicity parameter,Thus compounds with this group may have potentially important applications in medicine.Conventional methods for introducing trifluoromethylthio groups often require harsh reaction conditions and stoichiometric transition metals,but issues such as regioselectivity and excessive metal use limit the application of these methods.The free radical reaction has become one of the effective methods for building chemical bonds in organic synthesis due to its advantages such as good reactivity and excellent functional group compatibility.Therefore,the formation of C-SCF3 bonds with thiols through the free radical pathway is a new and attractive solution.Through the current generated by the positive and negative electrodes,the gain or loss of electrons or the conversion of electrical energy and chemical energy occurs on the electrode surface or in the solution to achieve the breaking of bonds and the synthesis of new bonds in organic chemical reactions.This is called organic electrochemistry.Organic electrochemistry does not require the use of additional oxidants or reducing agents,and has inherent advantages in synthesis,oxidation,and reduction reactions.Organic electrochemistry is also a veritable"green sustainable chemistry".In this context,the synthesis of aromatic trifluoromethyl sulfide by electrochemical methods will be studied.Here,we propose to use electrocatalysis to realize the direct trifluoromethylation of thiols through the free radical pathway,which Provides a new route for the efficient synthesis of aromatic trifluoromethyl sulfide organic compounds.
