With the flourishing development of science and technology in human society, energy demand has reached an unprecedented level and the environmental problems caused by energy consumption are increasingly prominent.Solar energy,as a promising alternative renewable energy, has its outstanding advantages. In recent years, with the development of nano-industry,nanofluid has attracted extensive attention because of its excellent heat transfer performance and different optical characteristics from macro materials. How to use nano materials to improve the utilization of solar energy has become a hot research topic. The spectral beam splitting PV/T system based on the water-based Zn O selective absorption nanofluid is proposed. The optical and thermophysical properties of water-based Zn O nanofluids are analyzed theoretically and experimentally. The experimental platform of spectral beam splitting PV/T system is set up to evaluate the performance of the PV/T system using Zn O nanofluids as the spectral beam splitting medium.Firstly,Zn O nanofluids with different nanoparticle mass fractions are prepared by twostep method. The influence of dispersant type and mass fraction on the stability of waterbased Zn O nanofluids is studied by Zeta potential and static sedimentation method. The thermal conductivity of water-based Zn O nanofluids was measured by thermal constant analyzer. The influence of the mass fraction and temperature of water-based Zn O nanofluids on the thermal conductivity is also analyzed.According to the Rayleigh scattering approximation theory, the factors influencing the optical properties of water-based Zn O nanofluids are analyzed.Effects of Zn O nanoparticle and dispersant mass fractions on the spectral transmittance of nanofluids are studied and compared with UV-VIS-NIR spectrophotometer. Finally, the influence of the mass fraction and inlet flow of water-based Zn O nanofluids on the performance of the spectral beam splitting PV/T system are investigated on the experimental PV/T system platform.By comparing with air and water, the feasibility of water-based Zn O nanofluids in spectral beam splitting PV/T system is explored.
