In theory,aluminum metal-air fuel cells have the advantages of low price,high energy density,environmental protection,etc.,and are widely used in military,disaster relief and so on.The air electrode is an important part of the metal air battery,and its quality directly affects the performance of the battery.At present,the main problems faced by the metal air battery electrode research are short life and poor stability,and these problems are directly related to the catalytic layer and the waterproof breathable layer in the air electrode.Therefore,this paper focuses on the preparation and performance of cathode materials,and discusses the application of this electrode in Al air batteries.Among the many factors that affect the performance of battery,this paper focuses on the proportion of the components of cathode electrode materials,and optimizes the performance by improving the process parameters.In the experiments,the first step was to prepare the silver,manganese oxide and carbon composite catalyst with uniform particle size distribution,to explore the optimal mass ratio of Ag in the catalyst,and then make the optimal ratio of waterproof breathable layer,finally make the optimal ratio of the catalytic layer.The prepared cathode materials with many kinds of proportions are assembled into batteries to test their discharge performance.The experimental results show that when the mass ratio of Ag in the catalyst is 17%,the ratio of carbon black and PTFE is 1:1.5 for the waterproof breathable layer and the ratio of carbon black and catalysts in the catalytic layer is 1:1,the battery can show the best performance and the life expectancy of electrode is the longest which can be 55.26 h,and the specific energy can reach 1096.10 Wh/kg.The Al metal-air battery product was assembled using the optimized air electrode formulation and experimental conditions,and the discharge test was performed.A series of experimental results show that the specific energy of the small size Al double-sided electrode structure battery can reach 1187.80 Wh/kg;the large size Al double-sided electrode structure battery has good stability,the discharge energy can reach 311.16 Wh,and the discharge life can reach 177.81 h.When the corrosion inhibitor concentration is 0.58 mol/L,the discharge capacity,discharge stability and discharge life of the large Al double-sided electrode structure battery are optimal.The Al metal-air battery product was assembled using the optimal air electrode formulation and the optimal corrosion inhibitor concentration,and then the performance comparison with commercial electrode battery product was carried out.Experimental results show that the specific energy of our Al metal-air battery product can reach 1221.81 Wh/kg,which is much higher than that of commercial electrode battery.And in the bulb lighting experiment,our battery is superior to commercial electrode battery products in terms of bulb lightness and lighting duration.
