Montmorillonite?Mt?is an aluminosilicate mineral with a layered structure.Due to the swelling,water absorption,and ion exchange properties,Mt is widely used in various fields.However,the lack of in-depth research on the inorganic exfoliation and organic intercalation mechanism of Mt seriously restricts the application of new Mt functional materials.Montmorillonite was treated with inorganic ultrasonic treatment and organic intercalation,and explored the synthesis of organic-inorganic hybrid material of montmorillonite.This experiment used calcium-based montmorillonite(Ca2+-Mt)as raw material.Mt was treated with ultrasound,and then inserted octadecyltrimethylammonium chloride?OTAC?into Mt to synthesize montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material.The influence of different time of sonicate,the amount of OTAC,the reaction time and temperature on the interlayer spacing and application in xylene of montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material was investigated.The microstructure,morphology and surface polarity characterization of synthesized montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid materials were measured by XRD,FT-IR,SEM,cantact angle and TG-DTG.?1?The optimum conditions of synthesizing montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material:Montmorillone was treated by sonicating with 7 h and 1.5 CEC OTAC were reacted at 60°C for 6 h.?2?XRD analysis results showed that the layer spacing of the synthetic montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material can reach 4.36 nm.TG-DTG showed that the thermal stability of montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material is poor,and the OTAC decomposed around 250?.The wetting contact angle results showed that the hydrophobicity of the montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material was not good as the organic montmorillonite modified by octadecyltrimethylammonium chloride prepared by traditional methods.SEM results showed that the montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material had a large number of curled peeling layers.The layered structure was very loose and no sheets stacking.?3?Explored the synthesis mechanism of organic-inorganic hybrid materials of montmorillonite.Sonicate can improve the compactly stack of layered structure,so that more OTAC can effectively insert into the interlayers of montmorillonite through the cation exchange reaction,hydrophobic effect and van der Waals force.The interlayer spacing of the montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material had been further enlarged,and the montmorillonite sheet is further dissociated.?4?The montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material was dispersed in xylene,and measured the colloid yield to explore its application.Compared with the traditional octadecyltrimethylammonium chloride modified montmorillonite,the montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material has better gel performance and better swelling ability in xylene.The colloid yield of the montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid material reached 94%,and no sinking occured after 48 h.The sheets of montmorillonite organic-inorganic hybrid materials were combined in a face-to-face and end-face manner through hydrophobic interaction and Coulomb force interaction.
