As the basic environment for humanity survival and resource for food production, arable land is irreplaceable.Recently, the severe arable soil pollution has been attached to the development of industry, the development of agriculture and the escalation of urbanization.Present study collected the urban and farmland area samples with 32 and 30 sampling points respectively at the region of Hohhot.16PAHs?polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon?and 23 OCPs?organochlorine pesticides?were analyzed by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry, after that investigated the current status and the characteristics and constitutes of POPs soil pollution in that region.By utilizing PCA?principal component analysis?and characteristic ratio method, the source of PAHs was analyzed, and, health risk assessment model was used to assess the influence of PAHs for population health. The result of study have significant science basis for governmental agency which would formulate the soil`s pollution controlling project and the population health`s protecting suggestions. The results of present study followed by:?1?The results of PAHs showed that the highest concentration at 2499?g·kg-1,the lowest concentration at 126?g·kg-1,and the average concentration at 654?g·kg-1 in Hohhot urban area.It was followed by transport samples>park samples>commercial area samples>residential area samples, meanwhile, the transport had positively contribute to PAHs pollution.?2?The results of PAHs showed that the highest concentration at 864?g·kg-1,the lowest concentration at 140?g·kg-1,and the average concentration at 293?g·kg-1in Hohhot farmland area.Apparently, the highest concentration at the sampling sites around Western Industrial Estate and Airport may relate to the coal firing pollution, fossil fuel combusting and leaking pollution,respectively.?3?The major of 16 PAHs were constituted by C5-C6polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, and the most of soil`s samples had very similar PAHs constitutes. It was mean that PAHs pollution resulted from the same source of pollution, furthermore, the common low molecular weight PAHs illustrated the less coming pollutant in Hohhot region. The urban and farmland area soils pollution mostly contributed by coal fire, which lead by the coal combusting in winter.?4?7 kind of PAHs's carcinogenic risk beyond the standerd restriction, and the over proportion at 70 carcinogenic pathway was oral intak in whole soil sampling sites. The DBA and BaP were the factor that contributes the most with carcinogenic risk n urban and farmland area respectively. However, the rest of 6 kind of PAHs's hazard quotient under the standard range, and the over proportion at 70 hazard pathway was oral intake,so do.The Pry was one of the most factors lead to hazard quotient botn in urban and farmland area.?5?The results of organochlorine pesticides showed that the highest concentration at 188?g·kg-1,the lowest concentration at 26.4?g·kg-1,and the average concentration at 71.9?g·kg-1in Hohhot urban area. While the highest concentration at 564?g·kg-1,the lowest concentration at 89.4?g·kg-1,and the average concentration at 217?g·kg-11 in Hohhot farmland.Aldrin reagent and its degradants,DDTs and HCHs had the highest concentration among these OCPs.?6?The component ratios of organochlorine were followed by DE reagent>DDTs>HCHs in soil samples.By the component ratios of DDIs and the nigher proportion of?-HCHs in HCHs way,the degeradation of QCPs had been through some timings and less polutant was increased.
