| The problem of climate change caused by excessive greenhouse gas emissions has seriously affected human production and life.Changing the rough economic development model, and achieving emission reduction targets has become an urgent responsibility of all countries.Due to its large population base,China is a large carbon emitter in terms of total volume. As a developing country,China has taken the initiative to undertake the emission reduction obligations of the international community, incorporate mandatory carbon emission targets into the “13th Five-Year Plan”,and optimize the allocation of environmental resources by establishing a carbon emission trading mechanism. After several years of trial operation of the regional carbon market in seven provinces since 2013,China officially launched the national unified carbon emission trading market in December 2017.In order to explore whether the establishment of this market is effective, this paper compares the carbon management level of pilot enterprises participating in the carbon market with non-pilot enterprises that are not involved to verify whether the carbon emission trading mechanism can promote the initiative to manage carbon emissions and achieve emission reduction results. This study refers to CDP to establish an evaluation system of carbon management level, which uses the carbon information disclosed in the social responsibility report of pilot enterprises and non-pilot enterprises for 2014-2017 to score. And the aggregate value is the dependent variables that reflect the carbon management level of enterprises.Through descriptive statistics, regression analysis, and mean comparison analysis,it is verified that the carbon emission trading mechanism can indeed improve the carbon management level of enterprises, and the impact on carbon-intensive industries is more significant. In addition, from the time horizon, the carbon management level of the pilot enterprises has been significantly improved after joining the carbon market, and then the annual increase is more obvious than the non-pilot enterprises, which further validates the role of the carbon market. In a word, this paper explores the impact of carbon emission trading mechanism on enterprise carbon management level, which helps to deepen the understanding of the role of carbon market, and also provides a reference for policy makers to develop effective trading mechanism. |
