Carbonate reservoir with fractures and vugs characteristics in the presence of matrices are now attracting the attention of Petroleum Engineers in the world.This is simply because fractures and vugs system has some special qualities that support the quantity of oil and the fluid flow patterns in the reservoir,which eventually aids in the optimal recovery of the hydrocarbons.Researches into the fractures and vugs of carbonate reservoirs prove that the vugs serve as a house that contains the oil and fractures serve as flow corridors that help hydrocarbon fluids to flow from one point in the reservoir to the other.Likewise,the presence of matrices proven to contain pores,which also contain hydrocarbon fluids.The research also establishes correlations between permeability and porosity in the fractured carbonate reservoir.The presence of porosity and permeability determine the pore volume and the flow of fluids in the reservoir respectively.Owing to this background and argument,a geologic model containing faults,fractures and vugs have been analysed with simulation scenarios to know how best optimal recovery of oil could be achieved from the reservoir.The simulation exercise covers gas injection.Water and solvent injection were also used to compare the outcome of the nitrogen gas injection.Gas is chosen as the main flooding agent,with the engineering and economic interest to know how it can optimally enhance the recovery of hydrocarbons from the reservoir.Re-injections are done at the mid of the simulation,when the reservoir energy or pressure declined to increase the rate of production in all aspect.The simulation experiment is also used to determine the flow behavior in the horizontal wells,and the entire fluid communication that exists in the reservoir.Eclipse Simulator and CMG,were used to all the simulation work.Analysis of the oil saturation distribution of all the simulation cases was conducted to know the recovery performance of the oil field.Nonetheless,water-cut analysis was done,using the outcome from both Eclipse and CMG Simulators.
