Metallic glass materials have excellent mechanical and functional properties due to their unique disordered atomic structure,can be widely used in precision instruments,optical devices,aerospace science,power equipment,and other fields.Compared with traditional alloys,metallic glasses have excellent properties such as 2%elastic strain,ultra-high yield strength,good corrosion resistance,and soft magnetic properties.However,at room temperature,almost all metallic glasses exhibit characteristics such as no macroplasticity and catastrophic fracture,the main reason is that the metallic glass forms a shear band when deformed,and the shear band is mainly generated locally.The energy concentration range is extremely small,and brittle fracture occurs.At present,the main method to solve the brittle fracture of metallic glass is to prepare metallic glass composites,the addition of second-phase toughened metallic glass composites has become the main research direction.The second-phase plastic material can effectively hinder the rapid expansion of the shear band,and produce the ability to carry plastic deformation,eventually increase the plasticity of the material,at the same time,adding special second-phase substances can also improve other properties of metallic glass,further expand the scope of application of metallic glass materials.In order to improve the plastic deformation ability of zirconium-based metallic glass,adding oxide ceramic particles and graphene powder in amorphous matrix,two kinds of zirconium-based metallic glass composites were prepared by copper mold suction casting method.The first is the zirconium-based metallic glass/oxide composites,the introduction of alumina and zirconia particles on a ternary zirconium-based amorphous matrix,the nominal composition is(Zr47Cu47Al6)100-x?Al2O3?xx=5,10,(Zr47Cu47Al6)100-x?Zr O2?xx=5,10.After the mechanical property test,it was found that the prepared composite material not only maintains high strength and hardness,but also has a large plastic deformation capacity.By controlling the organization,the mechanical properties are optimized,the fracture strength?cof the composite material with a component of(Zr47Cu47Al6)90?Zr O2?10exceeds 2650Mpa and the Vickers hardness value reaches540Hv,and the compressive plastic strain is as high as 30.4%,which is about ten times higher than that of single-phase zirconium-based metallic glass,it shows that the introduction of the second phase of zirconia significantly improved the plastic deformation ability of the alloy.The second is the zirconium-based metallic glass/graphene composites,the composite material is the introduction of graphene powder on a five-element zirconium-based amorphous matrix,the increase of alloy components is conducive to strengthening the amorphous forming ability of zirconium-based metallic glass,so as to prepare larger-sized composite material to meet the needs of industrial applications,at the same time,the composite material has a yield strength of 1800 MPa at room temperature,a fracture strength of more than 2300 MPa,and a plastic strain of more than 18%.When the compressive stress exceeds the yield strength of the zirconium-based metallic glass matrix,the matrix enters the stage of plastic deformation,and a large number of shear bands are generated,during the expansion process,the zirconia particles are hindered,and the zirconia particles are deformed and broken,this stage is mainly the softening of the composite material.Through electron microscopy analysis,a denser and larger area shear bands formed after the composite material yields,and river-shaped patterns in different directions were found at the fracture of the compression fracture sample,this shows that the composite material carries complex stress processes,shear band expansion has obvious signs of hindrance,eventually leading to large plasticity.The introduction of graphene materials has significantly enhanced the conductivity of metallic glass,at the same time,the amorphous forming ability of metallic glass is not affected by graphene recombination.In a word,the addition of oxide ceramics and graphene to zirconium-based metallic glass is a process of performance optimization and strengthening,the prepared zirconium-based metallic glass composites improve the mechanical properties of metallic glass,the application of metallic glass composites has important exploration and practical significance.
