The titanosilicates are not only active in the selective oxidation reactions,but also able to served as Lewis acid catalysts.This paper aims at improving the catalytic ability of TS-1 in the hydration reaction of ethylene oxide?EO?by post-modifications.In addition,the reaction parameters of EO hydration reaction were optimized.This paper consists two parts.In the first part,TS-1 is treated with organic base?TPAOH?,inorganic ammounium salt,organic amine and piperidine.The modified TS-1 is uesd in the EO hydration reaction in order to determine the most apporite modification method.At the same time,we charaterized TS-1 before and after modification by XRD,SEM,UV-vis,IR,29Si MAS NMR to explore the reason for the enhanced catalytic activity after modification.In the second part,we investegated the reaction parameters of EO hydration,including reaction temperature,reaction time,catalyst amount and the molar ratio of H2O/EO.When the modified TS-1 was used as the catalyst,the EO conversion of95%and the glycol?EG?selectivity of 100%was achieved at 313 K for 12 hours.Additionally,other kinds of titanosilicates were investigated in the EO hydration reaction to EG.And it is found that Ti-Beta was also found to be an active catalyst in the EO hydration reaction.
