With China entering to the stage of high-quality development. It is urgent to promote transformation of the economic growth and find the path of the development of green economy.Urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is the fourth pole of China’ economic growth and important agglomeration areas of traditional industry, exploring the green development path is helpful to provide an example for the high-quality development of China’s economy.Based on the panel data of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River from 2006 to 2016,this paper analyzed the spatial distribution characteristics、time series evolution characteristics、influencing factors and spillover effects of the industrial green efficiency of the 28 prefecture-level cities. The conclusions are as follows:From the perspective of spatial differences, the level of industrial green efficiency is comparatively consistent with the comprehensive strength of the city, and its distribution has obvious regional characteristics.Hunan Province has the highest level of industrial green efficiency, the development patterns of Jiangxi,Hubei and Hunan are different, there are certain spatial correlations between Wuhan and surrounding cities,Changsha and surrounding cities. From the perspective of time series change: Generally speaking, the green efficiency of urban agglomeration in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River shows an improvement trend, but there is still a big gap between most areas and the production frontier, and the green efficiency of industry has a great improvement space;from the perspective of provinces, there are differences in the evolution trend of time series among Hubei,Hunan and Jiangxi, and the development of Hunan and Jiangxi is relatively balanced;at the level of prefecture, provincial deputy. The improvement of green efficiency of central industry is obvious, which has a significant impact on the evolution of the pattern. The improvement of green efficiency is relatively low in the surrounding cities of Wuhan and parts of Jiangxi Province.Generally speaking, the development of urban agglomerations in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River has not yet formed a benign interactive pattern. The results of spatial econometric regression show that income level, industrial structure, capital density、government intervention and FDI are the main factors affecting industrial green efficiency, which explains the current distribution pattern of industrial green efficiency from economic and financial aspects. From the spatial perspective, the industrial green efficiency of prefecture-level cities in the middle reaches of the Yangtze River is affected by the negative spillover effect of the surrounding areas. The negative spillover effect of per capita GDP,environmental regulation and FDI on the industrial green efficiency of the surrounding areas solidifies the current spatial difference pattern of industrial green efficiency to a certain extent, and further explains the spatial and temporal differences of industrial green efficiency.
