Hydrolysis-esterification of wet microalgal lipids reduces the number of operations while producing the biodiesel?FAME?.In this study, the production of FAME by hydrolysis-esterification from wet microalgae was evaluated using six different types of catalysts. Two homogeneous?H2SO4,HCl?,four heterogeneous?SGO,H3PW12O40,H-Y-30,and ZSM-5?catalyst were used.Findings revealed that afore mentioned catalysts showed FAME contents 4.64%,4.60%,3.68%,0.576%,0.19%,and 0.03%,respectively.While FAME yield experimentally compared and tested.Among six catalysts, these three catalysts H2SO4,HCl,and SGO provided Maximum FAME yield?63.12%,62.40%,and 50.06?,as compared to other three H3PW12O40,zeolites H-Y-30 and ZSM-5?7.83%,2.58%,0.4%?.FAME profiles C16:0,C16:2,C16:3,C18:2 and C18:3 based on different catalysis routes observed to determine the suitable biodiesel production catalyst. The high quality of biodiesel produced in the presence of HCl with cetane number CN 47.29 satisfied the ASTM standard. In terms of biodiesel production this method?simultaneous hydrolysis-esterification?has a great potential to reduce the cost of drying, excess use of organic solvent and operating cost while as comparing to the traditional method?lipid extraction and conversation?.
