Acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer(ABS)and polycarbon-ate/acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer(PC/ABS)are commonl-y used engineering plastics,which can be widely used in various f-ields.Due to the poor flame retardant properties of the two materi-als,it is necessary to modify their flame retardant properties and e-xpand their application in key areas.In this paper,two kinds of fl-ame retardants of Poly(biphenyl phenoxy phosphate)(PBPP)and Poly(6-oxido-6H-dibenzo[c,e][1,2] oxa-phosphinin-6-yl phenyl phenyl-phosphate)(POPP)were appied to ABS and PC/ABS by different compound systems with ammonium phosphate(APP)and graphene(GR).PBPP and POPP were prepared at the early stage.Then the two flame retardants and their combination with APP were added to ABS to improve the flame retardant performance of ABS.The experimental results show that the ABS composites(30wt% PBPP/APP)can reach UL-94 V-1 level,and the LOI value of the ABS composites increases from 15.1% to 20.5%.TGA test results show that PBPP can effectively promote the carbonization of ABS,and the residual carbon rate at 700 ? can be increased up to 80 times,while maintaining the thermal stability of ABS in the high temperature stage.PBPP and POPP compounded with APP to form the different composite flame retardant system were added into PC/ABS alloy.The experimental results show that the PC/ABS composites(30wt% PBPP/APP)can reach UL-94V-0 level,and the LOI value of the composites has been increased from 15.2% to 22.9%.At the same time,the anti-drop performance of PC/ABS composites has also been improved.However,the flame retardant performance of POPP-PC/ABS composites is better than before.Thermogravimetric analysis results show that POPP can promote the formation of carbon layer after PC/ABS combustion.The residual carbon content of PC/ABS composites reached 27.4%,39% higher than that of pure PC/ABS,and the residual carbon content of PC/ABS was effectively increased.After an in-depth study of POPP-PC/ABS and POPP/APP-PC/ABS systems,it was found that the Pk-HRR,THR,SPR,and TSR of the two systems have declined.The smoke suppression and heat insulation performance has been improved,and the fire safety of the composite material has been improved.The EHC value and TG-FTIR test results show that both systems have both agglomerated phase flame retardant mechanism and gas phase flame retardant mechanism.PBPP and POPP compounded with APP and graphene(GR)to form the different composite flame retardant system were added into PC/ABS alloy.The experimental results show that the PC/ABS composites(30wt% PBPP/APP/GR)can reach UL-94V-0 level,and the LOI value of the composites has been increased from 15.2% to 27.0%.At the same time,the anti-drop performance of PC/ABS composites has also been improved.However,the flame retardant performance of POPP-PC/ABS composites is better than before.PBPP/GR is more helpful than PBPP/APP/GR to promote PC/ABS carbonization and maintain thermal stability at high temperature.When 15 wt% POPP/GR was added,the PC/ABS composites can reach UL-94 V-0 level,and the LOI value was increased to 21.9%.When 10 wt% POPP/APP/GR was added,the PC/ABS composites can reach UL-94 V-0 level,and the LOI value was increased to 21.0%.Both PC/ABS composites can effectively increase the LOI value,and at the same time the PC/ABS composites droplets can be significantly suppressed.However,POPP/APP/GR has better flame retardant effect on PC / ABS.Thermogravimetric analysis results show that POPP can play a good role in catalyzing carbon formation,and the amount of residual carbon in PC/ABS has also been effectively increased.After an in-depth study of POPP/GR and POPP/APP/GR systems,it was found that the Pk-HRR,THR,SPR,and TSR of the two systems have declined.The smoke suppression and heat insulation performance has been improved,and the fire safety of the composite material has been improved.The results of EHC,TG-FTIR,XPS and Raman analysis indicate that both systems have both agglomerated phase flame retardant mechanism and gas phase flame retardant mechanism.In summary,the flame retardant effect of POPP and its compound system on PC/ABS alloy is better.The PC/ABS composites(10 wt% POPP/APP/GR)can reach UL-94 V-0 grade,and the LOI value of the PC/ABS composites is also obvious improvement.At the same time,the anti-dropping performance and smoke suppression performance of PC/ABS can be effectively improved.
