Heat dissipation technology of the payload is facing the demand of heat dissipation with high heat flux and close thermal homogeneity restraint,Vapor Chamber(VC)is an effective heat transfer element to implement this demand.VC has higher thermal conductivity,good uniformity of temperature distribution and thermal spreading performance and compact structure.The performance of the VC depends on the design quality and process technic level,so the development of VC heat transfer technology can’t be realized without the understanding and exploration of its working mechanisms,the mastery and improvement of its process technic and discovery and optimizing of its design methods.The paper analysis the heat transfer mechanism and heat transfer limits,reckons the thermal resistance through heat transfer links.An aluminous VC is proposed and its voltage capacity,heat transfer limits and thermal resistances are checked.A set of technological process is established,the filling system of the working fluid of VC is constrcted,and the prototype of VC are fabricated.A testing system for the performance of VC is designed and established.The prototype of VC is experimental investigated systematically.The result shows that it has good startup performance since it can reach stability quickly when the heat load changes.The maximum temperature difference on both condensing surface and evaporating surface is small.The advantage of VC on temperature uniformity compared with aluminous alloy plate with the same size become more obvious as the input heat flux get higher.The VC has small thermal resistance,but the huge thickness restricts its heat transfer performance.It’s found that the working angle has great effect on the heat transfer performance.The heat transfer performance is best at 0 degree,worse at 180 degree,worst at 90 degree.The working temperature has influence on it too.The heat transfer performance decreases as the working temperature get lower.A simplified model of the heat transfer process of the heat transfer is build and verified.NX software is used to solve the heat transfer model and the temperature distribution of VC is obtained.The effect of design parameter is discussed from a numerical angle.The simulation results shows that the heat transfer performance can be effectively promoted by reducing the thickness of the complete,especially for the thickness of the sintered wick,under the premise of pressure resistance assurance,reducing the number of support columns can improve the uniform temperature performance of VC.
