Because of its small size, high lift,self-absorption ability and other characteristics,in the areas of agricultural irrigation, chemicals, electric power, vortex pump has been applied widely. In recent years, with the upgrading of household water demand, vortex pump with its low noise, high head advantages, plays an more and more important role in family life. But the efficiency of vortex pump is low at present, generally 20%-40%,so it is necessary to simulate the interior to improve the performance of the vortex pump by improving the internal structure, which has a high academic value. In this paper, using the numerical simulation method to study the vortex flow inside the pump,three-dimensional pumps model was set up using software SolidWorks and meshed using ICEM,Hybrid grid technology is adopted in the fluid domain.Numerical simulation of vortex pump uses equations are Reynolds and RNG k-? turbulence by FLUENT,then the performance parameters of the vortex pump with different impeller grooves are calculated, grasped the distribution law of pressure field and velocity field in the vortex pump, analysis its effect on the performance of vortex pump. Finally with Tecplot 360 drawn curve and profile performance of cloud. The analysis of the flow field shows that it can improve the performance of the vortex pump with the appropriate increase of the groove depth of the impeller. Then, bending the blades on the basis of in a certain groove depth of the impeller blade, and numerical simulation was carried out.Building a vortex pump experimental station to measure characteristic parameters of vortex pump, such as flow, head and efficiency, the results were compared with the numerical results, causes of the difference were analyzed.
