With the vigorous development of national economic construction and made great efforts in developing Bridge engineering,marine engineering,and high-rise and super high-rise buildings in engineering has aroused the horizontal bearing capacity of the pile foundation is becoming increasingly important.There is now the piles research focused on the vertical loaded piles mechanism research and analysis,but relatively little research on the horizontal loaded piles,so it is necessary to carry out the analysis of horizontal loaded piles.The theoretical and experimental studies of the existing horizontally loaded piles are summarized,failure modes and analytical methods of laterally loaded piles are introduced in detail,the merits and demerits of the analysis methods are evaluated in this paper.Because the strain wedge method can not only consider the internal force and deformation of the pile under the different soil property,but also co nsider the stiffness of the pile,the shape of the cross section,the pile head and the continuity of the soil,and extend the traditional two dimensional analysis method to the three-dimensional field,which has its unique advantages.Therefore,based on t he strain wedge method the ABAQUS numerical simulation software is used to analyze the horizontal loaded piles in order to further improve the theory of strain wedge.First,a three-dimensional numerical model of the horizontal loading rigid pile on the ground had been set up,and two examples are given to verify the rationality of the analysis by ABAQUS.Then the calculation results of ABAQUS has been analyzed to determine the boundary strain value of the strain wedge model,and then the shape parameters of the strain wedge model are determined.Next,compared and analyzed the change of shape parameters of strain wedge model under different horizontal load,internal friction angle,elastic modulus and cohesion of soil divided into two cases: sand and clay.And through regression analysis of the variation of shape parameters with various influencing factors to obtained fitting formula of base angle and length of strain wedge in sand and clay respectively.After that,further consideration had been given to th e situation of the horizontal loaded pile in slope.According to the existing model test of horizontal loaded pile in slope,the three-dimensional numerical model of the horizontal loading pile on slope had been set up and has been analysis by ABAQUS.The shape parameters had been determined by the ABAQUS analysis results,because of the slope effect,the fan angle and the bottom angle of the horizontal load pile on the slope is obviously smaller than the horizontal load pile on the flat ground,and the var iation of the parameters is also different.And through regression analysis of the variation of shape parameters with various influencing factors to obtained fitting formula of base angle and length of strain wedge in slope.Finally,taking an project examples as an example,the ABAQUS finite element software had been used to analyze the project examples,Comparing with the results of the the ABAQUS finite element analysis and the actual measurement results of the engineering,the rationality of the model had been verified.
