It is the primary task to study deeply and master the evolution mechanism and operation law of traffic flow to solve the problem of urban traffic."Stop and go traffic wave" refers to the phenomenon of frequent acceleration or deceleration of vehicles in traffic flow and often followed by traffic congestion phenomenon.Deep research on the common traffic flow phenomenon can help to alleviate the city traffic congestion, reduce city traffic accident rate and reduce vehicle exhaust emissions. It is of great significance for the construction of green traffic city. However,at present, there is a lack of research on the incentives of this phenomenon and the microscopic study of the process of evolution in China. Therefore,on the basis of the theory of asymmetric driving behavior,a detailed and intuitive analysis of the phenomenon of stop and go traffic wave is the key problem to be solved in this paper. The main contents of this thesis are as follows:(1)Based on the NGSIM micro vehicle trajectory data, asymmetric driving behavior of drivers in acceleration and deceleration process is further explained by observing and studying the data, and the asymmetric driving behavior theory is verified. The results show that asymmetric driving behavior is mainly affected by two factors, which are vehicle performance and driver characteristics.According to the asymmetric driving behavior theory, this paper divides the running state of the vehicle for free phase, accelerated phase, deceleration phase, uniform phase and stationary phase,andthe5 stage process of running state of the vehicles analyzed by the relation graph of speed and distance.(2)In this paper, the incentives of the phenomenon of stop and go traffic wave are expounded systematically, and the evolution process of stop and go traffic wave is analyzed based on the theory of the asymmetric driving behavior, which use the NGSIM vehicle trajectory data. The results show that the evolution of stop and go traffic wave is related to three factors, namely incentives, background traffic conditions(or the initial operation state of the vehicle)and driving behavior. When the initial disturbance(incentives)is in the presence in traffic flow, stop and go traffic wave may evolve into increasing wave or dissipation-wave in certain conditions of the flow rate, density(such as acceleration phase, deceleration phase or free phase)and driver behavior characteristics(such as overreaction or under reaction). In addition, the development state of stop and go traffic wave can be determined by the change rate of vehicle speed and disturbance influence time in disturbance process.(3)The characteristics of driving behavior in the course of lane changing are analyzed, and the influence of vehicle lane changing behavior on traffic state is studied.Furthermore, the relationship between lane changing behavior and stop and go traffic wave is further expounded.Based on the analysis of the data,it is proved that prejudgment process and relaxation process exist in the lane changing phase;the influence area of lane changing is divided in trajectory and space-time graph, and the net times of lane changing in the influence area are counted. The effects of lane changing on traffic state and stop and go traffic wave are analyzed quantitatively. The results show that the traffic state is closely related to the lane changing behavior, and stop and go traffic wave is not only affected by lane changing behavior, but also related to the traffic situation.
