Reactive powder concrete(RPC)is a new type of composite material with high strength and high toughness.Reinforcing Building Components with RPC layer can significantly improve the seismic performance of components.In this paper,we propose a method of using the RPC layer to reinforce the solid brick masonry column and the empty wall masonry,the effect of RPC layer reinforced brick masonry structure was studied by experiment.The main content covered are presented as follows.(1)Two unreinforced solid brick masonry columns,four solid brick masonry columns reinforced with the RPC layer were designed and tested under axial compression.The improvement of bearing capacity and failure mode of solid brick masonry columns were investigated.(2)Two unreinforced empty brick masonry wall,two empty brick masonry wall reinforced with the 10mm thick RPC layer and two empty brick masonry walls reinforced with the 20mm RPC layer were designed and tested under low reversed cyclic lateral loading.And the damage mechanism,hysteresis characteristics,bearing capacity,stiffness degradation and energy dissipation capacity of the walls were studied.The effect of RPC layer reinforcement on the seismic performance of empty wall masonry structure was analyzed,as well as the effect of different thickness RPC layers on the reinforcement test was analyzed.The results show that the reinforcement of RPC layer improves the bearing capacity,the brick structure brittle damage characteristics and the seismic performance of brick masonry structure.The reinforcement method is easy to construct,has little influence on the original structure,can reduce the damage of the component in the earthquake.It is a good reinforcement method of brick masonry structure.
