The insulator surface contamination components are becoming complex and diverse, different contamination components on the surface of the insulator conductance and flashover voltage effects are different.Artificial con tamination experiments to use more sodium chloride to the equivalent surface dirt insulator components. Most of the artificial contamination experiments use sodium chloride to equivalent the components surface dirt insulator, therefore the flashover voltag e is higher than that of the natural pollution,so it is necessary to analyze the contamination characteristics of the insulator surface, and to study its conductivity characteristics and the influence law of the insulator flashover, which can provide some reference for future research. The flashover voltage of the contamination insulator is closely related to its surface contamination composition and the moisture content of the contamination layer.Based on the previous studies, four typical soluble contamination components and two insoluble contamination components are selected to discovery the conductivity characteristics and influence law of the insulator flashover. The specific work and the results are as follows:The influence of the different components of natural contamination on the insulator surface to conductivity of the contamination layer was studied by using the plate model. The results show that the surface conductivity of different contamination components increases with the increase of the co ntamination components. In the same SCD,the order of insulator surface conductivity of different contamination components is not consistent with the order of solution conductivity, which indicates that the water absorption of the layer has an effect on the surface conductivity of the contamination layer;the surface conductance of Ca SO4 mixed with other inorganic salts The results showed that the effect of Ca SO 4 on the surface conductivity of the sludge was less than that of the single inorganic salt.Based on the study of the plate model, the different surface contamination of the insulator was measured and compared with the surface leakage current. The effect of the contamination on the flashover characteristics of the insulator was studied. The results show that the results of plate model are different from those of the actual insulator, mainly because the shape of the insulator is complex.Under the effect of voltage, the surface layer of the wet insulator will produce stem area, and the leakage current channel become disconnected, causing the plate model and the real insulator inconsistent. The effects of different contamination components on the flashover voltage of insulators were studied.Combined with the previous experimental analysis, the influence of contamination and contamination on the flashover voltage of insulators was studied. The experimental results show that the flashover voltage of the insulator is mainly related to the conductivity, solubility, ionization property, water absorption property, component composition and their mutual influence of the soluble contamination components.
