Application Research On The Landscape Design Based On New Vernacular Concept

With the rapid development of cities and the properity of social economy and culture,every urban culture will be more or less shocked by the modern civilization and will also absorb the impact of it.The new vernacular concept is a landscape design idea that adapts to the development of times which the new vernacular landscapes are also in accordance with.In addition,during the process of urbanization,new vernacular concept is one of the ways to embody regional culture.This research consists of four parts.The first part is introduction.This research is conducted in the way of searching information on the Internet and analyzing both the overseas and domestic research status and the successful cases.According to the desighn direction,the research is conducted purposefully by collecting application theses and cases of the new vernacular concept in other domains and then elaborates the background,purpose and significance of this research.The second part illustrates the related notions of new vernacular concept and the features of new vernacular landscapes,which including the concept definitions,features and discriminations of new vernacular landscape,vernacular landscape and regional landscape and then summarizes the specific expressing method of the new vernacular landscape design: echoing,repetition,exaggeration and coordination.The third part is the design part of this research.Takeing the new vernacular concept as the design theory,this part conducts a landscape design practice on the industrial wasteland of Mangdao River west bank in Yangzhou under the guidance of three principles---the natural ecological protection,the coordination between the new and old and the participation enthusiasm.Before the design practice,the author got an in-depth look at culture of Yangzhou by collecting massive amounts of data and making further analyses of the design site.Finally,the design practice embodies the new vernacular concept from three respects—the extraction of vernacular elements,the management of vernacular elements in modern means and the manifestation of modern elements in the readitional means.The last part generalizes and summarizes the whole research.By the studies of applied theory of new vernacular concept in the landscape design and the design practice,the research summarize three building methods.Firstly,the new vernacular landscape design needs to excavate those vernacular elements that have the sense of history and the representativeness.Apart from that,the new vernacular landscape design need to make comprehensive and detailed analysis of site situation according to the local condition.Last but not the least,the new vernacular landscape design should lay emphasis on the development and application of new techniques and materials.By a series of researches on the new vernacular concept and the combination it with practical case,this research lays emphasis on dealing with the relationship between the tradition and the modern when applying the new vernacular concept to landscape design and try to use modern means to deal with the traditional elements,compound the familiar traditional elements in an appropriate way and organize the modern elements in traditional way.By using new vernacular concept to make landscapes reinterpret city image and features,this research provides certain reference to the present landscape design.
