The wheels of the vehicle of special type experience complex random loading,with fatigue being their main failure mode.It is important to the reliability and safety of the vehicle of special type that the fatigue life of the wheel can be accurately predicted,based on which the effective measures can be taken to prevent the wheel from failing.This paper focuses on studying the fatigue analysis method of the wheel of special type.Firstly,the finite element model of the wheel is constructed,with which the stress distribution in the wheel under unit load of each load channel is obtained,which indicates that the radial loads and bending moments have larger influences on the wheel stress and are the significantly influential loading factors to the wheel fatigue damage.The six-component load transducer of wheel is used to measure the wheel load signals on typical roads.The measured load signals are processed to ensure that they are accurate and effective.They are transformed into the loading signals for the wheel finite element analysis by use of the coordinate transformation.The stress and strain responses of the wheel under the loading signals of all loading channels are obtained by use of the quasi-static stress superposition method.The material properties of the aluminum alloy are obtained with the material test.And the cyclic stress-strain curve and strain-life curve of wheel are obtained by considering the influence of mean stress,surface condition,dimension,etc..The fatigue analysis software Design Life is adopted to predict the wheel fatigue life,with the wheel loading signals,finite element analysis results,material properties mentioned above and multi-axial fatigue model being synthesized.By comparing with the actual fatigue failure of the rim,the feasibility of the method is verified.
