To satisfy the need of a subway line by a locomotive and vehicle limited company,a subway shunting diesel locomotive is developed with the maximum operating speed up to 80km/h.The locomotive has the overall load-bearing structure and is mainly used for the urban metro depots.Its function involves the equipment and materials transport,vehicle rescue,and traction operation of other non-powered rail vehicles.Therefore,it must have high strength,high stiffness,and lightweight.It also can continue to operate for a period of time.According to the design drawings and assembly drawings of the locomotive,three-dimensional model of the locomotive structure is created using software Pro/E.The finite element model of locomotive is developed by software ABAQUS with beam element and the solid element model,respectively.The static strength analysis of the vehicle body is carried out.The results states that the strength and stiffness of the locomotive structure can meet the design requirements.In order to reduce the weight of the vehicle body,the number of columns in the side wall structure is optimized for the frame type locomotive.The number of columns of the left and right side wall structures is reduced from 10 to 8.The strength and rigidity of the optimized structure still meet the design requirements.The weight of locomotive structure is decreased by 3.8%.On the basis of the frame structure,the truss structure is used to optimize the sidewall of the vehicle body,.making the body structure weight than the original frame type locomotive structure reduced by-11.4%,compared with the optimized frame type locomotive structure reduced 7.9% It is structural strength and rigidity are better than the those of frame structure.So the truss structure is more suitable to the lightweight design requirements of the body than the frame structure.The research results provide some reference for the body design of the diesel locomotive and some theoretical analysis data for the lightweight research of the locomotive structure.
