Angular contact ball bearings,which can sustain axial and radial loads,are widely used in the space-based structure.With the development of space technology,the bearing properties,such as stiffness,lifetime have been put forward higher requirements.Therefore,it is necessary to study angular contact ball bearings.The research object of this article is angular contact ball bearings used in space-based two-dimensional turntable.Statics analysis,finite element analysis and the stiffness analysis of angular contact ball bearings is studied,which laid the foundation for the analysis and application of bearings.First,on the basis of hertz contact theory,statics of angular contact ball bearings is studied.The formulas of contact stress and deformation based on Hertz contact theory are deduced.contact stress and deformation of angular contact ball bearings are calculated by the hertz contact theory.Because of the complexity of the Hertz contact theory,calculation procedure is worked out in MATLAB.The contact stress and deformation of 71938-bearing are calculated by the program.The advantages of this program are the universality and automation.The finite element model of angular contact ball bearing is created by the finite element analysis software MSC.Patran/Nastran.The finite element analysis results are quite consistent with the theoretical expectation,which illustrates that the finite element simulation analysis is correct.The parametric modeling program of angular contact ball bearing contact model is designed by the secondary development tool of(PCL)of Patran and embedded in the main interface.It can decrease repetitive work and enhance working efficiency.The stiffness calculation formulas of angular contact ball bearings are deduced on the basis of the Hertz contact theory and the rigid ring hypothesis.Because the angular contact ball bearings studied in the paper are thin-wall bearings,radial deformation of bearing ring can't be neglected under axial load.The rigid ring hypothesis is not suitable for thin-wall bearings.Therefore,Classic axial stiffness formula is revised based on considering the ring radial deformation.Axial stiffness test and modal test of the bearing show that the correction mode of the axial stiffness is reasonable.Although research on the contact problems and the rigidity of bearings is very wide,thin-wall angular contact ball bearings applied in space environment is very few.The research in the paper has certain guiding significance for thin-wall angular contact ball bearings of space-based structure used in the environment of low speed and light load.
