To alleviate the high energy consumption and poor heating comfort problem in hot summer and cold winter area,a new solar photovoltaic-loop heat pipe(PV-LHP)assisted heat pump heating system was proposed in this paper. The system, which combined the solar photovoltaic-loop heat pipe technology with the water source heat pump technology, have many advantages, such as layout flexibility, high heat transfer efficiency and widely adaptability to air temperature.Considering that both the surface water heat and the solar energy could be utilized by the target system, the system' operation stability under various working conditions could be ensured. Moreover, part of solar energy could be converted into electricity by the PV module and sold to the national grid, thus improved the system's economical feasibility. The simulation and experimental results indicate that the system operate well and could achieve considerable socio-economic benefits in hot summer and cold winter areas.Besides, the influence of some key parameters on the studied system were also investigated.Based on the first law of thermodynamics and the principle of energy balance, the fine mathematical model of PV/LHP operating mode was designed. Then, coupled the loop heat pipe model with the heat pump model through the transient simulation software TRNSYS,a mathematical model of the target system was constructed to simulate the performance of it.Based on the built model, the operating performance of the studied system in short-term and long-term were investigated.Compared to the traditional water source heat pump heating system, fewer power consumption during the heating season could be achieved by the target system.Analyses results indicate that collector area, water tank volume and the length of the solar heat storage period were the major structural and operating parameters that could greatly affect the system's performance.Compared to the traditional water source heat pump heating system, the studied system could achieve significant energy conservation, economical and environmental benefits.
