The construction of affordable housing and living conditions of its residents have influences on the life quality of the local grassroots,which can reflect the happiness index of low and middle income families and act as the top priority in solving people's livelihood issues.Through deep investigation and research on the status of affordable housing in China's security housing system,we have found that the number of affordable houses and the quality of its main buildings are being improved,and the useable area per capita is also increasing,and the prices are kept basically stable under the control of government.However,there exist certain problems in the interior decoration design of affordable housing.First of all,the materials used by home decoration industry contain many harmful substances,which have a serious impact on people's health and living environment.Secondly,the indoor environment of affordable housing is so monotonous that the rooms cannot reflect the individual's personal emotions and cultural tastes.Thirdly,the utilization rate of indoor space of affordable housing is too low.Fourthly,the styles of interior decoration for affordable housing are lack of harmony.Obviously,these problems reduce the quality of the entire living environment and people's spiritual pursuits.In response to the above problems,plenty of market research and explorations have been carried out on the decoration materials,space planning,home styles,arts of the living environment and functions of household products in the affordable homes.Therefore,we have a better understanding of interior design,especially for small-area economical houses,and put forward some effective measures to further study the improvement of the living environment quality.In order to solve the problems in the decoration design of economically affordable housing,an interior design mode called whole-house customization is applied in this paper,after the author finished her practice in interior design companies and her researches on household products market.The materials of whole-house customization products are eco-friendly nano-boards,combined with the mortise-tenon structure in traditional Chinese wooden buildings,greatly reducing the harm caused by the decoration pollution for the environment and human body.The products of whole-house customization mode are completely customized according to the actual inside dimension.And this mode provides reasonable advice on practical problems,such as the inconformity of the finished furniture with the inside dimension and the difficulty to buy right furniture for irregular space,to improve the utilization rate of dwelling floor space.Home products should be designed according to owners' requirements to meet their tastes in the style of home furnishings.The personalized needs of house owners should be combined with traditional culture and local characteristics as the highlight of the whole style in later installation and design of soft decoration.Interior design of whole-house customization can not only improve the utilization rate of indoor space,but also show a superiority of "private custom".The multifunctional unit furniture of the whole-house customization mode is very helpful to solve the problems about insufficient functional space in small-area residences.The transformation of this furniture such as rotation or folding can meet different functional requirements as well as save more space to ensure that indoor activities are not affected.This unit furniture project has obtained the Practical New Technology Patent from the State Intellectual Property Office of the People's Republic of China.The patent name is Unit Furniture Suitable for Small-area Rooms and its patent number is 201720415474.1,which is the research result of this paper.
