With the development of VCBs in the fields of high voltage and large capacity,it is of great significance to further research on the related theories and regulation rules of vacuum arc.As a kind of fluid,the motion of vacuum arc is complicated and various.The structure and distribution of vacuum arc flow field have a significant effect on the comprehensive properties of VCBs.Therefore,researches on dynamic features of vacuum arc flow field become one of the most important subjects of VCB research field.Aiming at vacuum arc flow field,methods of researches on flow field dynamic features of vacuum arc based on optical flow field and PIV technique are proposed,which point out the direction of further study on arc controlling theory.In this paper,434 frames vacuum arc images are obtained by CMOS camera during the opening process.These arc images have features of high brightness,violent changes in arc shape.After preprocessing,program is compiled in MATLAB based on the basic principle of optical flow estimation and Horn-Schunck algorithm,which is used to study on arc optical flow field.The results show that vacuum arc optical flow field dynamic features can be obtained effectively through this method to describe arc particle moving direction and speed,accompanied by the formation of several parts of eddy current zones.The method of optical flow field can be used in the researches on vacuum arc flow field.In order to obtain more accurate information about vacuum arc flow field,the technique of Partical Image Velocimetry(PIV)is applied.Vacuum arc PIV images are obtained by software DaVis.The results show that this method can also be used in researches on vacuum arc flow field.In addition,compared with the method of optical flow field,more accurate information of arc flow field can be obtained by PIV technique.The researches on vacuum arc flow field in this paper provide foundation in further study on the theory of vacuum arc,which plays an important part in improving breaking capability of VCBs.
