Tropical islands are far from the mainland and there are no resources available. It exists strong solar radiation, climate heat, corrosion and other issues. It is of great significance to develop an eco-friendly environment that protects the island and its surrounding sea areas.one-to-two-layer fabricated structural system is environmentally friendly, easy to transport and has excellent corrosion resistance.Aluminum-wood joint frame structure system can meet these needs, but there was no relevant research and engineering applications. In this paper, new types of aluminum-wood joints were proposed with reference to the existing connection of steel and wood composite structure. To study the mechanical properties of the new type of joints,a pseudo-static test was conducted on the specimens of five joints, and the experimental phenomena and failure modes of the new joints were obtained.By analyzing the experimental data, the hysteresis curves, skeleton curves, strength, stiffness, ductility, energy dissipation capacity and other seismic indexes were obtained. The results showed that the joint capacity and the energy dissipation capacity of the U-type connection were poor, but it had good deformation capacity.Corner strengthening joint and double U-type connection joint had good ductility, stiffness and energy dissipation capacity.Filling plate joint had higher bearing capacity and deformability, but at the initial stage of loading, the stiffness and energy dissipation capacity were low.Compared with the steel-connector,the bearing capacity and stiffness of aluminum-connector decreased slightly, but the equivalent viscous damping coefficient changed little. After the material test we performed finite element analysis of the joints through ABAQUS.The numerical models could accurately simulate the stress characteristics and hysteretic behavior of the joints. The stress distribution, the plastic strain and the deformation results of the joints were obtained. In summary,by reading the related literature,we put forward a variety of new beam-column joints of aluminum and wood. The failure mode and seismic behavior of the joints were studied by pseudo-static test.Based on the finite element software and the experimental data of material,we simulated the pseudo-static test of the specimens and the mechanical properties of the joints were analyzed.Experimental results verified the feasibility of the simulation method and therefore numerical simulation provides a reference for joint design.
