With the improvement of quality of life and health issues, people now pay more attention to the safety of domestic water. Therefore, the treatment process of the waterworks should be strictly controlled by the disinfection of the waterworks to remove the microorganisms and contaminants. The effective disinfection is a key part of the water treatment process. The main method commonly is to use chlorine to disinfect and eliminate microbial activity. However, the treated water will contain residual chlorine, which will have an impact and harm on the sense of drinking water, human health, food and beverage quality, ion exchange and membrane separation technology and equipment. In order to avoid the damage, the removal of residual chlorine in water has become an important problem. This paper attempts to use ultrasonic to remove residual chlorine in water, and make use of the cavitation effect of ultrasound to make the residual chlorine change safe and efficient. The main work contents are summarized as follows:This paper introduces various methods of removing residual chlorine. These methods have some fatal flaws, which leads to a kind of ultrasonic cavitation effect based on a new method for removing residual chlorine in tap water. In addition, the mechanism of the experiment and research are studied.Experimental comparison shows that the speed of ultrasonic dechlorination is affected by the magnitude of the driving voltage, which is the vibration speed. When the driving voltage is greater, the speed of chlorine removal is faster. At the same time, with the increase of liquid volume, the processing time will also increase. Then we studied the relationship between chlorine removal efficiency and liquid volume. It was found that within a certain range,if the amount of tap water increased, the energy that removing residual chlorine needs in unit volume of tap water would decrease.According to the experimental simulation and COMSOL Multiphysics finite element calculated pressure distribution of the fluid in the device.Through theoretical analysis,we think that the high temperature and high-pressure water environment which is caused by ultrasonic cavitation effect is the key to remove chlorine.Because it leads the hypochlorous acid to be decomposed.
