To relieve the traffic congestion and environmental pollution accompanied by the rapid development of urbanization,China's government proposed the strategy with prior emphasis on public transportation. While assimilating the foreign experience, the multi-level public transportation system with a main urban rail transit and a ground bus involved are expected to play the critical role. The density of rail transit network is low in most cities.Through collaboration with the ground bus, rail transit can full play its merit of high volume.Driven by this, the thesis aims to develop a novel method for designing the feeder bus network orienting rail transit transfer station with the purpose of better commuting efficiency. The thesis defines and separates the rail transit transfer stations into three main categories, including centralized ones, hub ones and the normal rail transit transfer stations. With full consideration of geological station, surrounding land use and transportation facilities, the characteristics of all the three kinds of stations were analyzed. The thesis finds the strongest demand for feeding service goes to normal rail transit transfer stations, which is also the main study object here. The center station already has a good transportation network, and the demand for feeder bus is small. The passenger flow of hub station is different from others, the thesis don't consider it.Thereafter, the characteristics of feeding service near normal stations were discussed. And the seven kinds of feeding service were carefully examined, including cycling, personal bikes, public bikes, sharing bikes, online taix, and personal cars and shared cars.Upon considering the tradeoff between those feeding service and feeding bus,the impact factor of feeding bus network planning were determined. For methodology part, with consideration of the effect of those feeding service on travel demand,a bi-level feeder bus planning model was established. On the top level, the passenger costs, investment required for transit and sharing bike companies, along with the frequency of private car were optimized. While on the bottom level, the demand was attributed using Logit model, and the results were feedback to the top level in calculation of the optimization goal.Genetic Algorithms is used in solving this model. In the final part of the thesis,a case study of Andemen Station in Nanjing was conducted.Through field investigation and data collection from consulting companies, the land use conditions, transportation facilities and current feeding bus pattern were derived.Applying the bi-level planning model proposed before, the solution to the feeding bus network orienting Andemen Station was calculated. The results also prove the efficiency and suitability of the aforementioned model in this thesis.
