Deep-water bridges are generally located at the confluence of rivers and seas,and their water environment is relatively complex.In the event of an earthquake,it is vulnerable to the combined effects of earthquakes,waves,and currents,especially for deep-water bridges on seismic belts.Currently,numerical methods are used to study the dynamic responses of deep-water bridge piers under the joint action of seismic waves and currents.Some simplified boundary conditions and material properties need to be introduced during the numerical simulation.Therefore,it is necessary to verify the simplified boundary conditions and material properties of the above numerical simulations,as well as the simulation results through experiments.The mechanism of water-bridge interaction under the joint action of earthquake-wave-water flow is very complicated.Conducting the underwater shaking table test with the joint action of seismic-wave-water flow,and analyzing the test results will help understand the mechanism of water-bridge interaction.The analysis of the influence of the water flow effect on the seismic response of deep-water bridge piers is helpful to understand the role of water flow in the water-bridge interaction and validate the existing research results.Underwater shaking table test of deep-water bridge piers under the joint action of seismic waves and currents was carried out in this research.The test model was designed according to the dynamic similarity ratio,and special test model material was adopted.Testing and measuring programs were determined based on the test objectives.The underwater shaking table test data of deep-water bridge piers under the joint action of seismic-wave-water flow were analyzed to study the influence of water flow on seismic response of bridge piers in deep water.The results show that the dynamic response amplitude of the model under the joint action of earthquake-wave-water flow is not a simple superposition of the model response amplitude under the action of earthquake and wave-water flow alone.Under the same seismic record,the influence of the wave to the seismic response of the model mainly depends on the phase difference between the earthquake and the wave action.The seismic action contributes the most to the dynamic response of the model,and the contribution of the wave to the dynamic response of the model cannot be ignored.However,the contribution of the water flow to the dynamic response of the modelaccounts for only 5%.The effect of water flow on the seismic response of bridge piers in deep water can be ignored.
