In field detection applications,there are several advantages of the EO sensor over conventional measurement techniques.For example,the sensor which is all-dielectric will not perturb the field that it measures.The optical sensor is compact in size so that it will be small enough to be put in most environments.The linear electro-optical effect,which was the physical basis of the electro-optical measurement system,was introduced with refractive index ellipsoid.Research on the pulsed electromagnetic measurement based on the pockels effects was introduced;both electro-optical effect and electro-optical material were introduced,five typical characteristics of the electro-optical material were introduced so that we could grasp how to choose the electro-optical material and how to evaluate the property of the electro-optical material.The constitutions of the electro-optical measurement system were introduced,including the light source,the signal detection and the optical signal transmission system.On the other side,the design factors including the bandwidth,the shield of the electromagnetic interference and the set of the operating point of the electro-optical measurement system were discussed.Experimental research of polarization modulation on the pockels cell was conducted and the half-wave voltage of the pockels cell was measured accurately.The U-bench measurement cell with fiber-pig-tailed which was self-made was compact,and had low insertion loss.When the U-bench measurement cell was applied in the field measurement,the results were wonderful.The miniature all-fiberized probe was designed and made and the all-fiberized electro-optic measurement system was conducted to be applied in the electric field,pulsed high voltage field and the field of the wave guide.The results showed the availability of the miniature all-fiberized probe in all the three typical applications.
