The safety of transmission lines is related to national security,economic development and social stability.With the continuous improvement of the ecological environment,the number of birds has increased significantly,and the range of habitats and activities of birds has also expanded.Birds are increasingly threatened to the safety of transmission lines,and have become one of the three major causes of transmission line failures.The prevention and control of the damage by bird to transmission lines means a lot.Bird damage to transmission lines is mainly the flashover of bird droppings,and the short circuit of bird’s nest material and the failure of bird pecking insulator also occur.Transmission line failures caused by birds are closely related to many factors such as terrain,time,season,climate,type of tower,voltage level,insulator material and bird species.In order to deal with this problem,measures to repel birds,measures to isolate birds and measures to guide birds to nest in other locations have been proposed.However,after the actual use,it is found that because these measures are relatively rigid and mechanical,it is not only easy to be adapted by birds,but also have obvious shortcomings.New measures are urgently needed.After analyzing the characteristics of bird damage on transmission lines,comparing the advantages and disadvantages of existing prevention measures and understanding the physiological characteristics of birds’ visual and auditory,a design scheme of a new intelligent bird repeller is proposed.The intelligent bird repeller is based on an open source hardware platform that actively detects bird activity and is suitable for use in an iron tower environment.The integrated bird-repelling method combining green light and audible sound waves can weaken the adaptability of birds,make up for the shortcomings of single measures,and obtain excellent governance effects.It integrates with Internet of Things technology to realize intelligent bird repeller.The remote configuration and data acquisition greatly reduces the labor cost of the inspection work and enhances the flexibility of the intelligent bird repeller.In the shape and structure design of the intelligent bird repeller,the material’s processability and hardware module characteristics are fully considered,and it has good implementability.This intelligent bird repeller uses Arduino,which has excellent compatibility and expandability,and is suitable for rapid development of prototype products.It uses the HB100 Doppler radar detector to actively detect bird activity.The combination of audible sound and green light to repel bird helps to achieve better effects.The temperature and humidity data collected by the DHT11 temperature and humidity sensor and the image captured by the VC0706 camera can be transmitted to the OneNET cloud service platform.Intelligent bird repeller can be remotely controlled via the Internet of Things.At the same time,the SIM800C with built-in TCP/IP protocol is selected as the communication module;the low-cost Micro SD is used as the memory;and the SG90 with low torque is used as the steering gear.The connection assembly of the hardware system is completed.Use SketchUp for design of shape and structure.When designing the shape and structure of the intelligent bird repeller,the material’s processability and hardware module characteristics are fully considered.At the same time,the installation location should be coordinated with the transmission tower,and the installation method should be simple and reliable.The shape and structure design was finally completed.In software system design,program writing is based on the Arduino integrated development environment,using the Sketch language and rich Arduino library files.Modular design is used in the programming,the operation logic is straightened out and the program is written and debugged,and the cloud platform is configured,and finally integrated into the process efficient software system.When integrating each module into a complete software system,we pay attention to the hardware resource consumption of the optimization program and avoid the competition of hardware resources,and ensure that the intelligent bird repeller program can run stably under the Arduino Uno platform.Eventually,the features required for the new intelligent bird repeller have been completed and are working well.The new intelligent bird repeller provides a more effective prevention and control scheme to deal with the increasingly serious problem of transmission line birds,which is of great significance for maintaining the safety and smooth operation of the power grid.
