In recent years.UAVs are widely used in military warfare,urban management,civil.geological,disaster relief and other fields,and have been rapidly developed due to characteristics of small size,high flexibility and low cost.Meanwhile,UAVs positioning technology has also been studied in depth,radio detection and positioning technology has attracted the attention of scholars at home and abroad especially.The electromagnetic wave-based radio positioning techniques include angle estimation,time difference of arrival estimation,and received signal strength estimation,all of which can achieve positioning independently.However,the time difference of arrival requires clock synchronization,and the received signal strength is sensitive to the channel environment.Traditional angle-based estimation algorithms require a pairing process between the DODs and DOAs estimation which causes high computational complexity.This paper aims to improve estimation performance and reduce computational complexity,focuses on the joint estimation of the DOD and the DOA for MIMO bistatic radar,and proposes an improved unitary estimation method of signal parameters via U-ESPRIT algorithm for joint DOD and DOA estimation without a pairing operation.What's more,the paper proposes a joint improved DOA and TDOA estimation for UAV location.The main research contents include:1)Conduct research on the basic working principle of radar,the basic deployment and signal characteristics of bistatic radar and MIMO bistatic radar,study the process of transmitting electromagnetic waves among the transmitting array,UAV,and receiving array.2)Explore the UAV positioning method from the perspective of angle estimation,conclude traditional angle estimation algorithms and super resolution spatial spectrum estimation methods,analyze advantages and disadvantages of each algorithm,and study joint DOD and DOA estimation algorithm in MIMO bistatic radar environment.3)Explore pairing process elimination method based on U-ESPRIT,extract electromagnetic wave information reflected by UAVs,share the same matrix during calculating DOD and DOA,reducing the computational complexity while ensuring the match of DOD and DOA,explore the relationship between the number of array elements and estimation performance,analyze the improved algorithm.2D-MUSIC,RD-MUSIC.ESPRIT and other algorithms,and compare the estimation accuracy among algorithms,analyze advantages and disadvantages of the innovative algorithm.4)Combine DOA and TDOA methods,describe the relationship between DOA and the position error,and relationship between TDOA and distance error.Explore the relationship between error parameters and UAV position coordinates,then the UAV is located by least squares.Finally,carry out simulation experiments to evaluate the performance of the algorithm,explore the influence of the distance between target and base line on the position estimation performance,and study the relationship between the number of arrays and UAV positioning performance.
