Ballasted tracks are generally employed for the existing general-speed railways.In 2004,monobloc sleeper ballastless tracks came into use in two tunnels on the Chongqing-Huaihua railway line.And in 2006,a 13-kilo-long testing ballastless track was built in the Suining-Chongqing railway line by the Ministry of Railways.However,after running for over a decade,some defects are emerging as a result of the combined load of passenger trains and freight trains as well as the quality flaw since being constructed.Though the ballastless tracks of mixed passenger and freight railways share the same structure with those of the high-speed railways,there exist significant differences in the maintenance mode.The maintenance principles are different for railroads on which the operating speed is over or under 200 km/h,which results in significant differences in the track quality in spite of similar operating situation and the same track structure.In the current situation,the maintenance division of general-speed tracks should take into consideration how to maintain scientifically the ballastless tracks of mixed passenger and freight railways so as to keep tracks in good condition and how to control the increasing defects concerning the ballastless tracks of mixed passenger and freight railways.This thesis carries out the research on the ballastless tracks of mixed passenger and freight railways of Weituo-Jingkou and Chongqing-Huaihua railway lines,points out the existing problems in field maintenance of ballastless tracks,compares the domestic and international ways of maintenance and analyzes the problems in the current management mode.In view of the reform in the maintenance system in recent years,this thesis intends to put forward a new maintenance mode for the ballastless tracks of mixed passenger and freight railways with speeds below 200 kilometers per hour and to change the traditional Breakdown Maintenance Mode adopted by the track maintenance sections in the past.Besides,this thesis aims to improve the State Repair Mode of ballastless tracks by taking the entity responsibility of track subdivisions,hoping to give scientific guidance to track maintenance and ultimately implement the design philosophy of “More Reliability and Less Maintenance” for ballastless tracks.
