Composite steel plate shear wall(C-SPW)consists of steel plate and reinforced concrete panel on one or both sides of the steel plate using headed studs, which is an effective lateral load resisting wall.Compared with traditional reinforced concrete shear wall and steel plate shear wall,C-SPW has the advantages of large initial stiffness, high shear bearing capacity, good ductility and strong energy dissipation capacity. In this paper, the C-SPW finite element model with concrete encasement on both sides of the steel plate is established.28 C-SPWs are designed, and the responses of structural elements in C-SPW under monotonic lateral load are investigated by ABAQUS.The performances and the interaction behaviors of the elements in C-SPW are analyzed. The effects of aspect ratio of wall, steel plate thickness, concrete plate thickness, headed stud diameter and steel plate yield strength on the tension force and bending moment of the studs are investigated.Based on the finite element analysis results, available formulas for the demands on tension force and bending moment of headed stud in the design of C-SPW are proposed to make sure the headed studs are not destroyed until the drift ratio achieved 2.0%.
