As the operating hours of wind turbines increasing,a variety of faults have appeared intensively on the operation wind turbines currently.In the occurrence of all faults,the damages caused by the failure of blades and gear boxes have the worst results that not only cause the power generation failure,but also have serious safety accidents.The failure rates of the main transmission structures such as blades,gear boxes and generators now account for about 30%of the total failure rate of wind turbines.Once those parts of the components damaged,because of its high maintenance cost,long cycle and great difficulty,it is bound to cause enormous economic losses to wind farms and seriously affect the economic benefits.If the wind turbine uses a linear generator,with the design of new different structure will avoid these defects.In this paper,a new type wind turbine with the linear generator had been designed,and a series of work had been done as follows:(1)A new structure of single-blade wind turbine with the linear generator was designed based on the phenomenon of vortex-induced vibration.The main components of the wind turbine include an elliptical cylindrical blade,a universal joint transmission mechanism,a support base,a unit base,a linear generator,and a bottom electromagnetic coil group.(2)Based on the dynamics principle and the principle of the linear generator power generation,the mathematical models of the theoretical power generation and wind energy utilization coefficients of the wind turbine were obtained.(3)By using the fluid simulation software Fluent and the solid analysis software Transient Structure in Ansys software group,the bidirectional fluid-solid coupling between the blade structure and the flow field of the designed wind turbine was simulated.The amplitude characteristics and vibration frequency of the blade were obtained.Based on the simulation results and the mathematical models,the wind energy utilization coefficient of the wind turbine had estimated.As the wind direction is 90° and the wind speed is 12m/s,the maximum amplitude of the blade is 20.8 cm,the vibration frequency of the blade is 13.9 Hz,the power generation capacity is about 4.1 kW,and the wind energy utilization coefficient is 13.8%.
