As the world is progressing day by day and the latest core technologies are updating the recent technological trend by exploring outclass modifications resulting in the best methods,devices and artificial approaches we have for the modern era.That provide socio-economic growth,protection to individuals involved and moreover a long running solution to the Industrial optimistic problems.For the past sixty years electrical power industry with a combination of renewable energy sources has seen a rapid growth.Transmission lines,installation of Protection equipment's and distributed energy sources are increased.DG's are becoming more and more popular across the globe for utilization of renewable energy resources.As the system is getting much more complex than usual so are the negative impacts on the systems are increasing.This system experience faults caused by lightening,freezing rain,storm,human,insulation breakdown and short circuit effects.In majority fault is mechanical in nature that needs to be rectified as early as possible to bring the power system in operation.The restoration of power system can be expedited if the fault location is already known or either traceable in a shorter span in an accurate environment.Speedy and precise identification of fault location plays an important role in bringing power system back in operation affecting system restoration techniques,outage time and most importantly system stability.Fault Location is the main theme behind this research that contributes towards the advanced power system distribution network with distributed energy resources using a ?PMU apparatus.It's a newly based idea of framing a device that works in modernized power system with auto functionality based on phasors measurements of V and I across the busses to prescribe the fault location in power distribution networks with time stamping approach and GPS for easy access of far locations and data transfer.This thesis comprises of the steps towards the development of prototype of said ?PMU,deployment in the distribution network,simulation of prototype for fault location using phasors in various fault conditions.Moreover it's an upcoming trend for utilization in distribution network for locating fault in emergency conditions.Vast opportunities are there in the above said direction for researchers exploring the said area of ?PMU,in power distribution network using control strategies and AI.
