Semi-active suspensions based on magnetorheological(MR)dampers can effectively improve the dynamic stability of vehicles and it has been widely studied for vehicle vibration control.However,due to the inherent strong nonlinear hysteresis characteristics of MR dampers,it is difficult and is a challenge task to develop an efficient and precise mathematical model to describe and predict their nonlinearity,which affects vibration control performances of MR semi-active suspension system.Aiming at efficiently and precisely describing and predicting the rate-independent nonlinear hysteresis characteristics of magnetorheological(MR)dampers,this paper proposes a resistor-capacitor(RC)operator-based hysteresis model for MR dampers.The RC operator-based hysteresis model is based on the restructured phenomenological model with the RC operator substituting the Bouc-Wen operator.The essence of the RC operator is the theoretical generalization of the hysteresis phenomenon that the RC circuit presents in charging and discharging processes.Based on the experimental results of a MR damper,the comparison and analysis of the proposed model and the Bouc-Wen operator-based hysteresis models,including the Bouc-Wen model and the restructured model,are conducted.Based on the aforementioned work,a feedforward control strategy based on RC operator-based hysteresis model is proposed.And skyhook and LQR semi-active control strategy are designed to achieve vibration control for MR semi-active suspension considering the inherent strong nonlinear hysteresis characteristics of MR dampers.Based on simulation results and experimental results,the effectiveness of the feedforward control strategy based on RC operator-based hysteresis model is presented.The comparison and analysis of skyhook(LQR)semi-active control strategy based on RC operator-based hysteresis model and Bingham model are conducted.
