Highway overspeed behavior is one of the main causes of frequent traffic accidents on highways. However, the current highway overspeed monitoring has a single monitoring method, which is susceptible to climate, limited monitoring scope and time limit, and low-time monitoring and low accuracy. Therefore, how to carry out real-time and accurate monitoring of the overspeed behavior of vehicles on the highway in all directions and all-weather,is the main means to solve and avoid frequent traffic accidents on highways. In this paper,an accurate monocular vision ranging model established in this laboratory is applied to highway ranging and speed measurement, and a highway ranging speed measurement system based on monocular vision is designed and developed. The system has the advantages of low cost, and can measure the instantaneous speed of the vehicle all the time, and accurately. This article expands on the following areas:1.This paper puts forward the design idea of applying the Monocular visual ranging model to calculate the instantaneous speed of the driving vehicle in the field of view of the highway in the expressway speed measurement system, that is,using two ranging to obtain the distance difference and time interval,so as to calculate the instantaneous speed of the driving vehicle.2.According to the design ideas and design goals of the highway speed measurement system, the system needs analysis, function module design, database design,etc..3.According to the overall system design of the highway speed measurement system, the Java language is used to encode in MyEclipse and SqlServer2008 environment.;4.The modules of the highway speed measurement system were tested and applied to the city highway speed test. Finally, the speed measurement results were analyzed.
