With the urbanization in China,more and more new buildings are built in the Gobi Desert area in the northwest of China.Most of these buildings are based on the multistory frame structure.As a special geological phenomenon,the Gobi Desert is widely distributed in Inner Mongolia,Gansu,Qinghai,Xinjiang in China.The most distinctive feature of it is that coarse sand and gravel are covered on the hard soil layer,which make it an ideal bearing stratum for the independent foundation and the strip foundation.In this paper,based on the independent foundation under column and strip foundation under the geological conditions of Gobi,the finite element analysis is used to build the finite element model where the foundation cooperates with the base,and compare the mechanical property of the independent foundation under column,the strip foundation and the collaboration foundation.Based on this,we get the commonality and difference between the mechanical property of the independent foundation under column and the strip foundation,which is valuable for the selection of the frame structure of the Gobitan area.The conclusion is as follows:1.The difference between the displacement and settlement of the top and bottom of the independent foundation and the bar foundation increases stepwise,but the displacement settlement difference between the two is smaller considering the overall settlement of the foundation.2.Before the foundation is damaged,the settlement of the independent foundation under column is larger than the strip foundation in each stage,but the difference between the two is not obvious;when the upper load reaches the ultimate bearing capacity of the foundation,the settlement of the two increases suddenly,and the deformation laws of the two are consistent.When the upper load exceeds the ultimate bearing capacity of the foundation,the deformation of the independent foundation under column is significantly larger than the strip foundation,and the larger the load,the more obvious the difference is.3.Before the foundation is damaged,the stress on the bottom of the independent foundation under the same load is greater than that of the bar foundation,which indicates that the energy consumed by the community of the independent foundation and the base is significantly lesser than that of the community of the bar foundation and the base.That is,the bar foundation and the foundation have better co-deformation coordination ability.4.The internal shearing stress of the independent foundation and the bar foundation are lesser than that of the foundation itself,which meets the requirement of shearing strength,but the internal shearing stress of the independent foundation under column is greater.
