Rural infrastructure is closely related to farmers’ production and life,and is an important basis for improving farmers’ production and living conditions.The supply of rural infrastructure needs not only the financial support of the government,but also the active participation of farmers.Farmers directly benefit from the rural infrastructure needs farmers to contribute to labor,but farmers participate in rural infrastructure supply efficiency is not high,inevitably exist "hitchhiker" behavior,easy to fall into the dilemma of collective action.Social capital characterized by social network,social trust,reciprocal norms and social participation may be an important factor to promote farmers’ participation in the supply of rural infrastructure and improve the efficiency of collective action.This paper takes the perspective of social capital as a starting point,taking 371 farmers participating in village group road supply in Sichuan Province as an example,using factor analysis and double hurdle model to study the impact of social capital on farmers’ participation in the supply of rural infrastructure.According to the survey,70.89% of the surveyed farmers have had the behavior of supplying village roads in the past ten years,and the average degree of participation is about 691 yuan.92.72% of the surveyed farmers are willing to participate in the supply of village roads in the future,with an average degree of participation of about 1011.8yuan.The results show that social capital has a significant impact on the willingness of farmers to participate in the village group road supply and the degree of farmers participating in the village group road supply.From the various dimensions of social capital,social trust and reciprocity norms have a significant positive impact on farmers’ participation in the supply of village roads in the past ten years,and social participation has a significant positive impact on farmers’ willingness to participate in the supply of village roads in the future.In addition,social participation has a significant positive impact on the supply degree of rural households’ participation in village roads in the past ten years and the degree of farmers’ willingness to participate in the supply of village roads in the future.Social participation in the participation of farmers in the village road supply willingness and supply degree to promote the role of the strongest.In the personal and family characteristics,whether the farmers are engaged in agriculture or not,and the annual income of the family have a significant positive impact on farmers’ willingness to participate in the supply of village roads in the past ten years;Gender,years of education,total income of agricultural year and family name of head of household,and the distance from the village to the county has a significant effect on the road supply degree of the farmers participating in the village group in the past ten years and the supply degree of the future participating in the village group road.The annual income of the family has a restraining effect on the future participation of farmers in the supply of village roads.In the aspect of farmers’ cognition of roads,the degree of road satisfaction has a significant negative effect on the degree of farmers’ participation in the supply of village roads in the past ten years.Based on the conclusions of the study,this paper puts forward some policy suggestions to foster farmers’ social capital,such as enhancing the trust between farmers,encouraging villagers to help each other,and promoting farmers to actively participate in the discussion of village affairs,and so on.Promoting farmers’ participation in rural infrastructure supply response.
