Street space is one of the important space types in the construction of childrenfriendly city.As an important part of children’s outdoor activities,children’s Street activities are of great significance to children’s growth and development.However,most of the current urban research on street environment is using the visual angles of adults,and lacking of concern of the particularity of children’s groups.Thus the considerations of relevant planning factors and design strategies fail to provide good feedback on the real needs of children’s activities.Therefore,how to induce and support children’s activities in the street environment is one of the important topics in the study of children-friendly cities.Urban community is the main place for children’s daily activities,and the spatial structure of clustered community,which matches the children’s daily travel pattern,objectively becomes the basic space field for studying children’s street activities.In consequence,this study selected the typical clustered community,Shenzhen Hongli community,as the empirical research object,to analyze the spatial distribution characteristics of children’s street activities on typical community streets,and the internal relationship between children’s street activities and community street environment.After the analysis of related basic theories,this paper holds that the good relationship between children and the street should be that the street environment can "let children carry out various activities safely and freely,and can further enrich children’s cognition and promote children’s growth".Therefore,on the basis of the preliminary study of children’s overall use of community streets,five typical streets in the community were selected to collect children’s Street activities data by the method of map annotation,and present the spatial distribution of children’s Street activities.Then construct the correlation analysis between children’s Street activities and community street environment,to identify the environmental impact factors of children’s street activities,and summarize the characteristics of community street environment that can induce children’s activities.Then through observing the behavior of children’s street activities,recording and analyzing t he scene of children’s Street activities in detail,to discuss and analyze the intrinsic relationship between children’s Street activities and the characteristics of community street environment.Finally putting forward the strategy of building community street environment which could support children’s activities.The study found that the uninterrupted and continuous space in the street environment provided the basic site support for children’s activities,which guaranteed the safety of children and met the needs of children’s multi-dimensional activities.The various elements,which can be easily touched by children,stimulates children’s exploration of the environment;the symbolic space created by children’s design attracts children to gather together;and the various activities,which extend and blend beyond the street walls,expand the social scope of children’s perception.Thus the street environment stimulates and induces various types of street activities of children,which enrich children’s understanding of the environment,space and the society.On this basis,this paper carried out a community street environment model that can induce children’s street activities,and puts forward strategies to build community street environment which can support children’s street activities.
