With the improvement of people's living standards, travelers' requirements for travel service quality are also increasing.Psychological latent variables such as travelers' requirements for service quality will have an important impact on travelers' choice of interprovincial passenger transport mode.Because of the heterogeneity of travelers, travelers' preferences and perceptions of travel modes are different. The heterogeneity of travelers also has an important impact on travelers' choice of interprovincial passenger transport mode. However,at present, scholars at home and abroad mainly use logit model without considering the heterogeneity of travelers to study the influence of explicit variables on travel mode choice behavior. The research on the influence of psychological latent variables and traveler heterogeneity on travel mode choice behavior is not deep enough. Therefore,it is necessary to study the choice behavior of interprovincial passenger transport mode based on psychological latent variables and traveler heterogeneity,so as to provide reference for transport enterprises to formulate operational strategies.Based on this, this paper introduced three psychological latent variables: traveler's requirements for service quality, traveler's evaluation of service quality of high-speed railway and traveler's evaluation of service quality of bus.Questionnaire design and survey were carried out.Rasch model was used to estimate the psychological latent variables. Finally, the latent class conditional logit model considering traveler's heterogeneity was used to analyze the choice behavior of interprovincial passenger transport mode in great detail. The main contents of this paper are as follows:Firstly, based on the concepts of domestic and foreign scholars on travel and intercity travel, this paper put forward the concept of interprovincial passenger travel, defined the traveler heterogeneity, and elaborated the relevant theories of logit model.Secondly, according to the research needs, the questionnaire of travel mode choice behavior was designed. In the questionnaire, three psychological latent variables, namely, traveler's requirements for service quality, traveler's evaluation of service quality of high-speed railway and traveler's evaluation of service quality of bus, were designed. Then the SP questionnaire was designed and the questionnaire data was analyzed.Thirdly, this paper elaborated the relevant theory of Rasch model. On the basis of principal component analysis for one-dimensional testing and local independence testing,Rasch model was used to estimate three psychological latent variables: traveler's requirements for service quality, traveler's evaluation of service quality of high-speed railway and traveler's evaluation of service quality of busFinally, the latent class conditional logit model, random parameter logit model and FCM-random parameter logit model were used to analyze the choice behavior of interprovincial passenger transport mode, and the latent class conditional logit model was determined to be the optimal model by comparing the models. On this basis, the latent class conditional logit model was used to study the choice behavior of interprovincial passenger transport mode in great detail, and the travelers were divided into two categories: high-speed rail preferrers and bus preferrers. The results of latent class conditional logit model show that the above two categories of travelers show strong heterogeneity in service quality sensitivity, travel time value perception, time sensitivity from home to station, and preference for high-speed rail. When we study the impact of travelers' personal characteristics on latent class,we find that female travelers, travelers who have purchased houses, travelers who own cars, travelers with high incomes and travelers who have higher requirements for service quality are more inclined to choose high-speed rail travel.
