| Large capacity Li-ion batteries(LIBs)are mainly used for energy storage and high power battery.In recent years,researchers not only focus on the optimization of one single material,but also the matching and performance of the whole system.For large capacity LIBs,the capacity,internal resistance,and self-discharge are closely related to battery separators.So it is of great interest to study the correlation of the battery separator to the system performance.In this work,we study three types of commercial separators by first comparing their materials properties(thickness,shrinkage at different temperatures,electrolytes absorbency,the size of the holes and the distribution,etc);then we study the match of separator and other materials of the system using in 500 Ah power Li-ion batteries.The Al2O3 coated separator is found to render higher initial charge-discharge capacity,lower internal resistance,and smaller self-discharge K value than the other uncoated two.This conclusion will provide an important guidance for the selection of proper separators for the future production of power LIBs. |
