With the continuous innovation of power electronic,renewable energy technologies represented by wind power system have rapidly developed in recent years.At this stage,wind farms have become an important part of the energy field according to China's 13 th Five-Year Plan.However,since installations in wind power system incorporates a large number of power electronic devices and is a discrete-time,nonlinear dynamic hybrid system,traditional simulation models and analysis methods are no longer suitable for power systems in the new situation.In addition,with the consideration of stochastic volatility,the wind power system brings new technical challenges to the planning / operation / design of the grid.In order to carry out the research on the static and dynamic stability characteristics of power system under large wind power capacity,a thorough and comprehensive understanding of the characteristics of wind turbines is needed first.Therefore,it is necessary to establish the mathematical models for each time scale of wind power system.At present,relevant departments of power system often have detailed traditional grid models and grid data,but lack of practical and scientific wind power models,thus it is difficult to solve technical problems such as planning,construction of large-scale wind power and grid operation analysis.Therefore,there is an urgent need of research on the construction,analysis and applications of wind power integrated models.In order to adapt this trend,PSD-BPA,a comprehensive power simulation software widely used in China,has introduced transient simulation models of various types of wind turbines for power system.However,due to the existing applications and discussions focused on the old version of the encapsulation models and the lack of research on the mechanism characteristics,construction methods,analysis and verifications of the new generation of wind turbine models,the process of power system planning / operation / data construction for wind energy has been affected currently.The purpose of this paper is to solve the problems with the establishment,analysis and application of the new wind turbine models in BPA.Firstly,through the interpretation of the core functions of BPA,the relationship between power flow and transient stability calculation is demonstrated,and the application of the theory of aggregation is proposed.At the same time,the key details of the BPA models are focused and the characteristics of each module are analyzed from the physical concept to the mathematical model.Secondly,based on theoretical analysis,the timedomain simulation is taken as a measure to study the influence by parameters and transient characteristics of the new models deeply.Followed by this,the construction rules of BPA models are discussed.Finally,the models are validated by actual examples,including power control characteristics under transient disturbance,comparison with measured data and transient stability of different types of wind turbines.In view of the stochastic volatility of wind power output and defect from current BPA power flow calculation,the paper in addition proposed and implemented an efficient strategy about timing sequence power flow calculation.The content of this paper is a multi-faceted interpretation of the principles and applications of wind power models in BPA,which could help deepen the understanding of the relevant departments and improve the level of wind power modeling.
