Wind energy and tidal energy resources are two kinds of renewable and clean energy sources with wide distribution and no pollution. So far, wind energy and tidal power generation have also occupied an important proportion in China's power generation structure. How to improve the utilization rate of wind energy and tidal energy is becoming more and more important. In order to design wind turbines with more commercial value, estimating the energy harvesting efficiency of wind energy generators as accurately and scientifically as possible is an extremely important basic work in the development of new generators.Energy can be extracted from the flow when the airfoil performs both heaving and pitching motions in the fluid. In practical applications, the oscillating airfoil can extract the kinetic energy in the incoming flow under the action of wind or tide, and further generate electrical energy through the power generating device.Using this principle,it is possible to develop a new type of generator that is less expensive and lighter than a generator that uses rotating blades to generate electricity. The main content of this research is to use the general-purpose CFD solver Fluent based on unstructured grid to establish the model, and to use the UDF function to write the motion pattern of the airfoil and the motion process of the non-sinusoidal symmetrical airfoil with different motion parameters for the pitching motion.Numerical simulation is carried out to obtain the aerodynamic parameters of the airfoil, and the energy harvesting efficiency is calculated.Compared with the sinusoidal motion airfoil, the aerodynamic principle of the energy harvesting efficiency of the nonsinusoidal airfoil is analyzed under different motion parameters. The results show that the nonsinusoidal airfoil energy harvesting efficiency can be higher than that of sinusoidal motion under certain motion parameters when both the heaving and pitching motions are active motion(full active).
