The roll-flow rotor is a new concept rotor system,which is a rotor device formed by replacing conventional helicopter rotor blades with cross-flow fan-wing airfoil.And it uses power device to drive cross-flow fan blade to rotate to generate aerodynamic force and promote rotor rotation.The roll-flow rotor has the advantages of high lift,high power loading and high aerodynamic efficiency.In this paper,the aerodynamic characteristics of the cross-flow fan-wing airfoil,the aerodynamic characteristics of the roll-flow rotor,the aerodynamic layout,the control mode and the structural design of the roll-flow rotor are preliminarily studied.A prototype of roll-flow rotor is developed and the aerodynamic experiment under hovering condition is carried out.The main contents of this paper are as follows:(1)The numerical simulation and analysis of the aerodynamic characteristics of the two-dimensional fan-wing airfoil of the roll-flow rotor are carried out.The effects of inflow velocity,fan rotation speed and main geometric parameters of the airfoil on the aerodynamic performance of the roll-flow rotor airfoil are analyzed by software Fluent.(2)CFD method and blade element theory are used to analyze the influence of main parameters of the roll-flow rotor on its aerodynamic performance,which provides a reference for the layout design of the roll-flow rotor.(3)Several layout schemes are designed to improve the aerodynamic performance of the roll-flow rotor.The aerodynamic performance is analyzed and compared,and the final design scheme is determined.(4)The aerodynamic characteristics of fan-wing airfoil with trailing flap are studied,which provides a reference for the control of roll-flow rotor.(5)A prototype of the roll-flow rotor was designed and manufactured for the aerodynamic characteristics experiment.(6)The aerodynamic experiment of roll-flow rotor under hovering condition is carried out.The variation of lift,power and rotation speed of the roll-flow rotor with the rotation speed of the fan blade is studied.The research results of this paper have important reference value for further research on the design and control of roll-flow rotor flight vehicle.
