Study On The Festoon Pillar Art Of Civilian Residences In Jinzhong

Shanxi has a large number of ancient buildings,which are the representative of ancient northern civilian residences.As the typical of Shanxi civilian residences,Jinzhong civilian residences have been attracting the attention of a large number of scholars and researchers in recent years because of their elaborate architectural decoration.The artistic expression of residential buildings can not be separated from architectural decoration.Architectural decoration takes architectural components as carriers,and the festoon pillars as traditional architectural decorative components.Its decorative skills and artistic characteristics are particularly prominent.The paper is based on the artistic research of festoon pillars in Jinzhong area,the representative Shanxi merchants' residences in Jinzhong area are selected as the research objects,which are Wangjia Courtyard,Qiaojia Courtyard,Caojia Courtyard and Changjia Courtyard.Through on-site investigation and research,it is found that there are many festoon pillars in thecourtyards,and they are well preserved,but there are not a large number of complete research results.On the basis of the above-mentioned festoon pillars in Shanxi merchant civilian residences,the paper makes a thorough and systematic study on the festoon pillars of Shanxi merchant civilian residences comparatively.The paper mainly studies its emergence and development,decorative techniques,artistic features,national and regional characteristics of decorative contents and techniques,the importance of value and its modern application.The purpose of the paper is to provide basic information such as pictures and words,which can be used as a powerful reference basis in the later research on the festoon pillars of Jinzhong residential buildings and its correlation,at the same time,it can increase the modern application of festoon pillars in architecture or interior design,enrich the content of Shanxi residential architectural decoration,and promote the inheritance and development of Shanxi residential architectural decoration.The paper is divided into five chapters.The contents of each chapter are as follows: The first chapter is an introduction,which mainly elaborates the background of the festoon pillars of the buildings and the current research achievements of the predecessors,thus obtains the scope,angle and necessity of the research on the vertical style of the buildings;the second chapter is an overview of the festoon pillars of Jinzhong civilian residences,describing the natural and human environment in Jinzhong area,the general situation of civilian residences,the concept,emergence,development and the currentsituation of field investigation of festoon pillars;the third chapter describes the decorative techniques and artistic characteristics of the festoon pillars of Jinzhong civilian residences.The decorative techniques of the festoon pillars are described from the aspects of production materials and carving techniques.The artistic features are mainly manifested in the beauty of form,image of decoration and harmony of color,they follow the rules of formal beauty,the methods of analogy and symbolism,and the relationship between harmony and unity.At the same time,the artistic characteristics of the festoon pillars are analyzed one by one in combination with physical pictures;the fourth chapter describes the national and regional characteristics of the festoon pillars decoration in Jinzhong civilian residences.The national characteristics of decoration are mainly embodied in two aspects: decoration content and decoration techniques.The national characteristics of decoration contents are embodied in the implication of Confucianism and Taoism and the residence of folk culture,the national characteristics of decoration techniques can be summarized as emphasizing decoration and deformation,pursuing godlike and precious in artistic conception,emphasizing dynamic and panoramic description.The summary of the regional characteristics of decoration is to compare the festoon pillars of Jinzhong civilian residences with that of other representative civilian residences in the country,such as Zhejiang and Anhui civilian residences,Southern Fujian civilian residences,Yunnan and Guizhou civilian residences;the fifth chapter narrates the value,protection and inheritance of thefestoon pillars in Jinzhong civilian residences.The festoon pillars have important value in architectural engineering,architectural decoration and architectural cultural inheritance,through the extraction and design of the visual elements in decorative art and ideas in humanistic connotation,the application of the festoon pillars in modern architecture or interior decoration design can be increased.
