Research On Liu Guanzhong’s Design Concept(1985～1989)

1985—1989,can be said to be the beginning of industrial design in our country.Through the study of Liu Guanzhong’s thinking in the past five years,this paper probes into the content and development of his design thought in the early stage of industrial design in our country,as well as the relationship between his design thought and the history,society,culture,economic development and so on at that time in our country.In order to do some positive exploration in the research of basic theory of design in China.Liu Guanzhong’s ideas produced in this period and still have an impact on today’s design are as follows:1.the main ideas produced by Liu Guanzhong in this period and still have an impact on today’s design are as follows:1.The concept of the nature of design,2.The concept of design and aesthetics,3.The concept of design and culture.Explain and understand these three aspects.This paper discusses the thinking of contemporary design caused by these ideas.First of all,it combs the background of the domestic design circles from 1985 to 1989,from the establishment of the Department of Industrial Design in China to the summary of the achievements of many years of design learning and thinking,and then to the debate between the two trends of thought of "arts and crafts" and "industrial design" in China.All of them reflect the domestic design circles’ questioning of the essence of "design" and the passion and expectation of industrial design.Then the design concept of Liu Guanzhong is understood.Liu Guanzhong put forward the design at that time is to deal with the relationship between "people" and "things",design is a reasonable way of life(survival),in the understanding of design is a philosophical thinking.In this period,Liu Guanzhong put forward the viewpoint of "the culture of design",he believed that as far as the contemporary structural core is concerned,the cultural form of any era should be based on the existence of the real social and material life of that era.To regard the contemporary design culture as the culture of design means that contemporary design undertakes the important task of grasping the future of low entropy and controlled development.Then take 1985 as the node,compare the changes that have taken place in the concept of the design world,and what are the similarities and intersections between these concepts and other views in Liu Guanzhong.Finally,this paper summarizes the enlightenment of Liu Guanzhong’s design concept to the contemporary era,combined with the current situation of Chinese design,excavates the value of Liu Guanzhong’s design concept and the reference significance of its design research to modern design research.
