Water is a very important resource in human production and life,we have an unshirkable responsibility to protect it.By implementing the measurement and charging of production and domestic water,water can be saved to some extent.The traditional manual meter reading has to be slowly eliminated.Because this will not only waste a lot of manpower and material resources,but also appear the possibility of misreading and missing copies.With the continuous development of science and technology,some regions have begun to use digital meter reading for remote meter reading,but there are still a large number of old-fashioned water meters that are not easy to replace,and other methods are needed instead of manual meter reading.The development of image processing technology can effectively solve the above problems,this topic is using a series of image processing and character recognition through OpenCV computer vision library to realize the intelligent recognition of water metersThis topic identifies the readings of the water meter image by means of image processing and neural network recognition.The whole identification system consists of three modules,namely the original image preprocessing module,the recognition area positioning and the character segmentation module and the character recognition module.This thesis mainly focuses on these three modules,discuss the design and implementation of each module and the performance of the final recognition system.The main research results of this thesis are as follows:(1)Original image preprocessing module design.The module implements a series of pre-processing operations on the image,including image enhancement,grayscale,and tilt correction.Through the processing of this module,it is possible to eliminate the interference of some external factors on the identification.(2)Recognition area positioning and the character segmentation module design.The module can accurately locates the recognition area and achieves adaptive binarization.n addition to this,this module also has a range of capabilities for handling characters.Through the processing of this module,some useless information in the image can be excluded,leaving only information useful for recognition.(3)Character recognition module design.The module realizes neural network recognition of digital characters,including feature extraction of full and half characters and design of suitable BP neural network.Through the processing of this module,the final recognition result can be obtained.
