Relying on the project of "Water Disaster Analysis and Water Field Characteristics Research of Bell Tower Foundation",which was jointly established by Ning LI's team and the Xi'an Bell Tower Heritage Preservation Institute-Xi 'an Bell Tower Protection Project,this paper carried out a 1:18 scale physical model test to solve the problem of water leakage and waterproof measures of the bell tower foundation.Considering the dry density of rammed soil in the foundation to be 1.7,1.55 and 1.4 respectively,it carried out rainfall infiltration tests of different rain types.Then,anti-seepage tests on the top of the base of different modified soils are carried out to study the waterproof effect of different materials.The main research results show that:1)The smaller the dry density is,the easier it is for rainfall and rainfall to penetrate into the rammed soil layer.The larger the dry density is,the harder it is for water to penetrate.When rainfall occurs,the greater the increment of water content,the greater the depth of water infiltration,and the smaller the dry density on the soil infiltration path,the more likely it is that the soil is empty or the seepage cracks and cavities collapse,indicating that the leakage of the bell tower base is mainly caused by the gradual decrease of the compactness of local rammed soil.2)The failure of light rain to penetrate through the blue bricks on the upper part of the base has an impact on the measuring points in the top layer of rammed earth.The moderate rain rainfall has an obvious impact on the measuring points of water content in the top two layers of rammed earth.Heavy rain has a significant effect on the water content in the upper three layers of rammed soil.The water content increment is larger than that of medium rain,and its water content growth rate is significantly higher than that of medium rain.During heavy rain,water penetrates through the rammed soil layer in the whole test pit,with the largest increment of water content,and the overall rainfall water content growth rate is much greater than that of medium rain and greater than that of influence.3)After all kinds of waterproof layers are laid on the top of the base,the modified material with the best waterproof effect is: cement.
